Funeral services for Ted Theldred West of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the Epworth United Methodist Church with Dr. Rockford Johnson officiating.
Ted was born August 27, 1927 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Loyd D. West and Gertie Corley West and passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ted graduated from Pocasset High School in 1946. He then served in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War. In 1953 he graduated college from Oklahoma A &M (now O.S.U.) with a degree in Mathematics. He worked as an Aeronautical Weight Engineer in New Orleans, Louisiana, followed by General Dynamics in Ft. Worth, Texas.
He was married to his wife, Jean West of Chickasha, Oklahoma, on August 3, 1953. After moving to Ft. Worth, Texas and starting a family, he moved back to Chickasha, Oklahoma where he farmed and ranched for over 35 years.
Ted was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. He loved playing bridge, feeding, talking and naming the cows, and most of all spending time with his granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Philip West; brothers Audrey West and W. A. “Dub” West; sisters Trevia Smith, Lorene McAlister and Helen Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Jean West, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law Alice Roberts and Bill Roberts of Edmond, Oklahoma; granddaughter Rachel Roberts of Edmond, Oklahoma; a brother Clayton West of Anadarko, Oklahoma; a sister Ellen Hacker of Minco, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends and family.
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home
