Chris Parrish was born in Pocasset, Oklahoma, on February 10, 1934, the son of Elton and Mabel Ring Parrish. He died Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home near Pocasset.
Chris grew up in Pocasset and graduated from Pocasset High School in 1952. After graduation he attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Chris married Wynona Benson and from this union came two children Chris Parrish Jr. and Mark Parrish.
Chris was employed with Hughes Tool Company and later became a traveling salesman for IMC Fertilizer Company. He was also a farmer/rancher for over 60 years in Pocasset, Oklahoma.
Chris was active in many groups: Pocasset Masonic Lodge, Chairman of Chisholm Trail Memorial Association, 14 year committee chairman of Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association where he served on the Brand & Theft Commission, member of the Flying Farmers Association, and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon where he graduated at Oklahoma A&M. He was also a 25 year member of the Chickasha Rodeo Association, and served as president. Also he served as president of the Grady County Mineral Owners and the Grady County Cattleman’s Assiciation.
He was preceded in death by: both parents; Mabel Ring Parrish & Elton Parrish.
Survivors include: son; Chris Parrish & wife Dona, son; Mark Parrish, grandson; Clay Parrish & wife Holly, all of Pocasset, Oklahoma, grandson; Ryan Parrish, and granddaughter; Kristen Parrish both of Chickasha, Oklahoma, granddaughter; Tori Breedlove & husband John of Cleveland, Oklahoma, great grandchildren; Cash & Clayre Parrish, Taylor Breedlove, & Bryden Ford.
The casket will be open at the funeral home and closed at the service.
Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
