Virginia Lee Rutledge

??????????????????????Memorial services for Virginia Lee Rutledge, 78, of Chickasha will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Prather officiating.

Virginia Lee Rutledge was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on September 17, 1935, the daughter of Kenneth Odom and Bertye Dale Bryan Odom. She died on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Chickasha.

Virginia attended Chickasha High School graduating in 1953. She was a member of the planning committee and recently celebrated their sixtieth class reunion.

She married Delford Rutledge on February 14, 1954, and from this union received two children Cindy Novotny and Darrell Rutledge. She later married Bill Shilling.

She loved to attend the senior citizen dances. She was a member of Sweet Adeline’s for many years. She worked as a purchasing agent for Chickasha Mobil Homes for twenty-five years. The last three years of her employment she moved to Watertown, South Dakota before the plant closing. She later worked as the manager of Cindy’s Country Store in Pocasset, Oklahoma, for fourteen years. She recently returned from a trip to New Orleans with her family, one of her last wishes from her bucket list.

She was preceded in death by; son; Darrell Rutledge, father; Kenneth Odom, mother; Bertye Dale Mills, step-father; Austin Mills, grandmother; Grace Bryan, grandfather; Horace Bryan, nephew; Clint Pruitt, daughter-in-law; Beverly Calhoun Rutledge and her first husband; Delford Rutledge.

Survivors include; daughter; Cindy Novotny and husband Mark of Chickasha, Oklahoma, sister Hazel Cox and husband Alen, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, grandson; Kenny Novotny and wife Amber of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, grandson; Lt. Col. Charlie Novotny and wife Laura of Okinawa, great-granddaughter; Adley Novotny and great-grandson; Mason Novotny both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, great-grandsons; Elias and Keane Novotny of Okinawa, various nieces and nephews and her very special dog friend Kandi.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross at 601 NE 6th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.

Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
