Doris E. Billy was born October 26, 1917, in Butler, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ira John Stumbough and Mattie Jane Byfield Stumbough. She died Saturday, November 23, 2013.
Doris grew up and attended school in Custer City, Oklahoma and completed her schooling through the 10th grade. She married Orval Billy on February 18, 1938 in Prescott, Arizona. They lived for several years in Arizona and California, before returning to the Ninnekah, Oklahoma area in 1952 and helped work the family farm.
Doris was a loving farm wife, mother, and grandmother. Over the years, she took care of the family, ran the farm, and tended a big garden. She was a mentor to many.
She was preceded in death by: both her parents, Ira and Mattie Stumbough; her husband Orval Billy; her son, Benny Ray Billy; her granddaughter, Nancy Miller; her four brothers, Orvil, Alvin, Merle, and Donald Stumbough; and her three sisters, Lucille Garrett, Unis Fay Stumbough, and Helen Howley.
She is survived by: two sons and daughter-in-law, Dale and Deanna Billy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Gilbert Billy of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters, Bonita Vernon and Ester Lee, both of Modesto, California; five grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Brad, Tony, and Erin Billy; and four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Nicole, Jameson, and Kailee Billy and a host of other extended family members.
