Graveside services for Ruth Esther Palmer, 91, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Fairlawn Cemetery with Gary Layman officiating and Darrell Fruit assisting.
Ruth Esther (Mouser) Palmer, known as Ackey, was born August 30, 1924 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ernest Guy Mouser and America Elizabeth (Gawf) Mouser. She passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Ruth graduated from Eufaula High in 1942; she married D.C. Palmer in the fall before he left to fight in World War II and later the Korean War. While he fought on the front line, she stayed home and worked at Angel’s Drug Store.
Ruth moved several times due to D.C. working for a construction company, building bridges across the state. They finally settled down in Amber, Oklahoma in 1976, so they could be close to their daughter and grandchildren.
She loved to play the piano, feed her hummingbirds and was most known for homemade pies. Family was everything to Ruth, as her pride and joy was in her great-grandchildren and she loved to brag about their accomplishments. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church and her faith was an inspiration to all that knew her.
Ruth was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, D.C. Palmer, sister, Leota (Mouser) Deacon, and brother, Seigul Mouser.
Survivors are her daughter, Elaine Murray, of Chickasha; granddaughters and their husbands, Melissa (Murray) and Winston Walker, of Southlake, Texas and Robin (Murray) and Jay Grossnicklaus, of Chickasha; sister and brother-in-law, Lynelle (Mouser) and Lloyd Emmons, of McAlester; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Walker, Adeline Walker, Jacob Grossnicklaus, and Clayton Grossnicklaus; and other extended family and friends.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
