Funeral services for Monty E. Stephens, 76, of Ardmore, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha, Oklahoma with Reverend Lin Gipson officiating.
Monty Emanual Stephens was born October 2, 1942 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the Borden General Hospital, the son of Harven Clarence Stephens and Mary Marguirette (Wright) Stephens. He passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his home in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Monty spent most of his youth in Chickasha and his later teen years in California, where he excelled in baseball. He came back to Chickasha and finished his education.
On February 2, 1968, Monty married Rosie DeBusk in Wichita Falls, Texas and they were married over 50 years.
He loved to fish and hunt. He loved watching football and his favorite college team, OU. He liked the Dallas Cowboys best but watched all the NFL games. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a kind, good hearted man that was loved by everyone who knew him.
Monty loved his children and grandchildren very, very much. He has left his family with lots of the best memories and will welcome them all one day in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents H.C. “Steve” Stephens and Marguirette Stephens; his brother Randy “Butch” Stephens; nephew Brad Stephens; his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Survivors include his wife Rosie of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Montyica Stephens-Steelman and Randy Steelman of Chickasha; son Chance Stephens of Ardmore; granddaughters Jade Stephens, Chloee Steelman and Bryn Steelman; grandsons Ryker Steelman, Blake Stephens and Brant Stephens; dogs, Stunner and Louie; great-grandchildren Brystol Rose Stephens, Lilah Dawn Stephens and Talon Grey Stephens; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

He was a special guy and I will cherish the memories I have of him and Rosie on our lunch outings. Love and prayers for his family.
My sincere sympathy goes out to the wife, children, and all the family and friends of Monty. I wanted to share some comfort to you as brought out in God’s word.
At John 5:28,29 we are told there will be a resurrection of those that have passed away. Also Rev. 21:4,5 tells us too that one day death will be no more so man can live forever just as God meant for it to be when he created Adam and Eve.
Do to them sinning against their God and heavenly father they had to die and they passed that on to all their offsprings which includes us which is why we die. But, Jesus with his perfect life gave that life to pay for those sins and that is why we have a chance to live forever just as it was meant to be.
So sorry for your loss.
Some people are put in our lives for a season, some for a life time. Monty, Rosie, Montyica and Chance you are our life time friends. And even though we didn’t get to see each other very often your love and friendship has been timeless. We cherish the times we had…so many fun filled days watching the kids grow up and being a part of their young lives. You all are a part of the fabric of our lives and knowing you and sharing those days are moments we will always treasure. Monty’s smile and joyful laugh will ring on in the kids and grand kids. And though we must say good bye for now, you will never be forgotten dear friend. Your memory will be refreshed each time we hear a song, or think of a special time we shared and our hearts will smile at the mere thought of you. So farewell our precious friend, until we see you again. Our hearts are sad but we rejoice in having known you.
