Monty Stephens obit pic cropped and smallerFuneral services for Monty E. Stephens, 76, of Ardmore, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha, Oklahoma with Reverend Lin Gipson officiating.

Monty Emanual Stephens was born October 2, 1942 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the Borden General Hospital, the son of Harven Clarence Stephens and Mary Marguirette (Wright) Stephens. He passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at his home in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Monty spent most of his youth in Chickasha and his later teen years in California, where he excelled in baseball. He came back to Chickasha and finished his education.

On February 2, 1968, Monty married Rosie DeBusk in Wichita Falls, Texas and they were married over 50 years.

He loved to fish and hunt. He loved watching football and his favorite college team, OU. He liked the Dallas Cowboys best but watched all the NFL games. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a kind, good hearted man that was loved by everyone who knew him.

Monty loved his children and grandchildren very, very much. He has left his family with lots of the best memories and will welcome them all one day in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents H.C. “Steve” Stephens and Marguirette Stephens; his brother Randy “Butch” Stephens; nephew Brad Stephens; his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Survivors include his wife Rosie of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Montyica Stephens-Steelman and Randy Steelman of Chickasha; son Chance Stephens of Ardmore; granddaughters Jade Stephens, Chloee Steelman and Bryn Steelman; grandsons Ryker Steelman, Blake Stephens and Brant Stephens; dogs, Stunner and Louie; great-grandchildren Brystol Rose Stephens, Lilah Dawn Stephens and Talon Grey Stephens; and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
