A funeral service for Margaret Jean Hare, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 in the Parkview Christian Church with Pastor Justin Avery officiating.

Margaret Jean Erie was born October 6, 1934, in Bagley, Minnesota to Anna and Oscar Erie. She grew up on a farm in Gonvick, Minnesota alongside her seven sisters and two brothers. She loved sharing stories of her childhood and upbringing, her parents, and family.

Margaret met the love of her life, Clyde, when she was 19 and working at the local bank. They married in August 1954, and soon embarked on life’s journey together by traveling and living across the United States (and Canada) for Clyde’s career in pipeline construction.

Their son Larry was born in 1955 and daughter Kathryn was born in 1959. In 1970, they settled in Chickasha, Oklahoma by building their forever home and starting their own business: Hare Pipeline Construction.

Over the years, Margaret enjoyed traveling with Clyde in their RV to spend time at the lake and to visit family in Minnesota and Phoenix. She was a big sports fan. She treasured the friendships she developed through the years at Parkview Christian Church.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother — and was happiest when she could host family and friends. Her home always had an open-door policy with only one rule: no one can leave hungry.

Margaret and Clyde were rarely apart during their 69 years of marriage. It was a true and genuine love story.

Margaret is survived by her husband Clyde; their son Larry Hare (Kasi); their daughter Kathryn Shedd (Bill); five grandkids: Misty (Joe), Jeffrey (Katie), Brandon (Quinna), Daniel (Jennifer), and Rachel; and six great grandkids: Anthony, Alex, Jackson, Ella, Landon, and Emmett. She is also survived by her three sisters: DonnaMae, Beverly, and Janet.

Viewing for Margaret will be at Ferguson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1st from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
