John Robert “Bob” Willis

Willis (442x640)Funeral services will be held for John Robert “Bob” Willis, 81, of Chickasha, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in the Ninnekah Baptist Church with Mike McReynolds officiating and Bob Craddock assisting.

John Robert Willis was born in Comanche, Oklahoma, on July, 26, 1931, the son of Ralph Willis and Ipha Bond Willis.  He was received into heaven’s gate at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013.  His Father, Mother, Grandmother Ma Woodie, Grandfather PaPa, Aunt Ve, close childhood friend Wyndel Price and many loved ones greeted him with open arms.

Bob was raised in Comanche, Oklahoma and graduated from Comanche High School in 1949.  He later attended Oklahoma A&M College.

He married Wanda Thomas on July 13, 1951, in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Bob was employed with Mobil Oil Corporation for thirty-two years serving as a Registered Land Surveyor through the State Of Oklahoma. He ended his career as a Senior Production Foreman in the Cement area.

He was a member of the Ninnekah Baptist Church.

Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, being with his grandchildren and family but he particularly loved just visiting with people.  Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He was a Thirty Second Degree Mason of the Comanche Masonic Lodge and had been a Mason for over fifty years.

During his and Wanda’s retirement years they loved to go to South Texas where he was active in the 1st Baptist Church and Lake Front Church in Zapata, Texas.  He also loved his English and Scottish Heritage and reading Louis L’ Amour Books.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandmother Mary Willis and grandfather Robert Willis.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda, of the Home; daughter and son-in-law Dana and Chuck Watterson of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sons and daughter-in-laws, James and Lynn Willis of Chickasha and Chris and Conny Willis of Piedmont, Oklahoma; granddaughter BreAnna Watterson of Ardmore and grandsons and spouse, Dustin Watterson of Oklahoma City, Philip Willis of Chickasha, Brandon and Lacey Willis of Chickasha, Josh Willis of Bethany, and Tim Willis of Piedmont; two great grandchildren and a host of other friends and family.

The family would like to especially thank Bob’s wonderful caregivers, Dr. Hess, and Lifeline Hospice providers that aided him for an extended amount of time.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital 4050 W. Memorial Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120

Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, under the direction on Ferguson Funeral Home.
